Garagewörx was more than a VR experience. We started with a deep-dive into emerging technologies and then we tied them into the future of the automobile. We talked with the CTO for the city of Los Angeles as well as members of the US Department of Transportation.
We built 10 years of predictive models and created an immersive experience that showed passengers how technologies changed their automotive experience in real-time.
Video Everywhere
Because of the success of Garagewörx, we were asked to do another version with a deep dive into the concept of "everywhere a screen".
The idea being when the cars drive themselves, what is left is a "living room on wheels".
This concept allows us to theorize a variety of ideas in this space, we focused on three:
Single facing TV
360° Environment
360° Video
The 2nd demo above is a proof of concept.
Garagewörx Journey
We built a "hidden kingdom" area of the lab where we could do more robust VR demos without disruption, and an added sense of mystery.
In this space, we could demo up to 3 VR experiences at once and manage them all from a centralized console.
It looks hokey now, but that demo area introduced VR to over 2,000 people.
During my time with DIRECTV/AT&T I gave over 10,000 people their first VR experience.
